History of the Street workout

The street workout emerged in Brooklyn where African American men competed to see who was the strongest using the environment as public parks, street lights, bars and in other cases by extreme exercise, using the street as a large gym. Since there has been a boom in growth in recent years with organized groups such as Ruff Ryders in the US or Bartendaz they have contributed to its spread.

The movement had a great care in the streets having people hung on lampposts doing chin-ups, push-ups on the street doing … .videos teaching how to train on the street. Quickly as other groups (barbarians, barstarzz, highlandaz, team Wingate, beastmode) they began to be created by filling all city parks and organizing championships this new modality (NBXA, LI COMPETITION). This sport spread across Youtube videos coming to other countries like Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Spain. Many people confuse the street workout and those who practice it with people who have been in prison and attribute qualities to it but that is false, the street workout promotes values such as respect and education without political contextuality creating community in the neighborhoods more conflicting and young people away from drugs and alcohol.

Once unveiled the street workout, thousands of athletes from different countries began to work out in bars parks or gyms. Some sooner than others, they realized the fast progression of the sport with perseverance and good food, making it even more attractive. One of the pioneers in this sport are Ukraine and Russia. These countries have many sports facilities in cities. What began as just doing pullups, it was expanded with a series of exercises based on gymnastics and videos released by the aforementioned American groups.

In the summer of 2011 the first World Championship Street Workout in Riga, Latvia, with the participation of competitors from the US, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Norway, Latvia was organized. From which he emerged champion in the freestyle mode the Ukrainian Ether (barstyelrs).
